Richard Rohr's UK Tour 2010

Tuesday 24 Aug
Oxford
STILLPOINT
A day event focussed on Richard Rohr’s latest book, ‘The Naked Now: learning to see as the mystics see’.

This is the first event in Richard Rohr’s UK tour. We will be using the day to explore together the ‘missing dimension’ in our Christian heritage: non-dual thinking: the dimension that was there from the beginning, but which we so readily neglect, or say we can’t do. Contemplation brings us to the fullness of awareness of how things really are; and in this day, Richard will show us how to ‘wake up’ spiritually.

Wednesday 25 Aug
Birmingham
TWO MEN’S SPIRITUALITY EVENTS with RICHARD ROHR and DANIEL O’LEARY
DAYTIME: 10 am – 4 pm

The daytime event is a ‘get together’ for men from across the British Isles who have attended the Men’s Rites of Passage, and an introduction to the MRoP for men who might like to consider attending it in the future. The day will help us all to find ways to share and reflect on what doing the Rites has meant to us, and where the next step in ‘growing up’ spiritually might take us.

This is a great opportunity to spend a day in the company of two men with an international reputation for speaking from the head, the heart and from the guts: about the things that really matter. Men of every faith background, or none, and those who feel ‘anti-church’ – are welcome to this session.

EVENING: 7 pm to 9 pm

The evening event is for anyone and everyone interested in male spirituality. Is the spiritual journey different for men and women? (Or to put it another way, why are our churches full of women and our prisons full of men?) Why do so many men reject conventional ‘churchy’ structures? What does a robust male spirituality ‘look like’?

This is a great opportunity to spend an evening in the company of two men with an international reputation for speaking from the head, the heart and from the guts: about the things that really matter. Men and women of every faith background, or none, and those who feel ‘anti-church’ – are welcome to this session.

Thursday 26 Aug
London, Westminster Cathedral Hall [Ambrosden Avenue]
SILENCE IN THE CITY
6.30 pm – 9 pm

When Richard last spoke at Silence in the City, the whole hall was jam-packed: so if you are hoping to make it to this event, book early! The evening will focus on the consequences which follow for the Christian Churches, and arguably for all of humanity, of us having a contemplative heart at the centre of our lifestyle.

Friday 27 Aug - Monday 30 Aug

Cheltenham
GREENBELT

There is a fantastic synergy between Richard Rohr’s vision of what it means to live inside a Christian faith, and that of the Greenbelt audience! Richard will be speaking to packed gatherings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; in addition, we are planning a series of linked workshops that will explore key themes of Richard’s talks and enable you to explore them in the context of your own life.

Tuesday 31 Aug 2 pm - Thursday 2 Sept 2 pm
Swanwick Conference Centre, Derbyshire
AT THE HEART OF EMERGING CHRISTIANITY

This is the central 3-day highlight of Richard's visit! Articles earlier in the year in Radical Grace, in The Tablet and elsewhere have pointed up the significance of this ‘emerging’ movement. There are key questions to be asked and answered about this extraordinary process: described as ‘a reformation that isn’t a reformation’!!
So what is it? What isn’t it? Who is part of it? Who or what does it challenge? …and what hope can it offer us all?
If there is only one slot you can make in your diary, then this is the one to go for… comfortable accommodation is available at this residential centre, but you can also sign up to attend as a day visitor if this makes sense for you.

Friday 3 Sept - Saturday Sept 4
